Honestly, even if it wasn't freakin' Donald, this would have been an awesome-ish Darkwing Duck game! Look at the gameplay! That gun could have easily been changed into the gas gun. It's such a weird decision to kneecap the sales of your game by not using the name of a much more recognizable character. I played the SNES version not knowing that the Donald Duck connection was in the Genesis game for many years. The SNES and PC version ignores this fact when you boot up the game. The Sega Genesis version and the Gameboy version show it on the title screen. Now comes the real kicker, out of all 4 versions of the game (Genesis, SNES, GB, and PC) only 2 versions acknowledge that Maui is Donald. I was able to play it on the SNES many years later. Let's be honest here, who's name is more recognizable? Donald Duck, or Maui Mallard? You would think the name alone would garner more sales even if the game came out late in the life of the 16-bit systems! I know I was super confused by the character when I read about the game in magazines back in the day. When you hear him get hit, it's obviously Donald's voice. To this day, I'm still baffled by why Disney Interactive decided to call the game Maui Mallard.
